Celebrating WWD 2017 in Desniansko-Starogutsky NP

On February 1  in the city of Konotop, Sumy region, in the local museum  was opened a festival of biological collections “Nature is around us” and an art exhibition of landscapes of the region. From 1 to 7 February were held lectures, master classes, teaching games, presentations, practical classes in ornithology.

On February 2, an ornithological excursion took place on the Ezuch River for the pupils of the Konotop station of young naturalists and pupils of the 10th-11th grades of the Konotop school No. 9. During the event the children learned about representatives of the avifauna, their behavior and voices.

In the library of the Seredin-Budsky district of the Sumy region, an ecological lecture was held dedicated to the World Wetland Day. Participants of the lecture  (schoolchildren) learned about the natural features of the wetland of international importance “Poima Desna”, which is located in our region. Particular attention was paid to the spring and autumn migration of birds. Children enthusiastically watched presentations about the numerous flocks of various migratory birds and expressed their desire to make their contribution to the preservation of valuable places of nature.

An interesting activity on feeding birds was held for  the smallest children. Their parents made “cereal” pancakes from seeds and children hung out and watched birds flying to feed themselves

More than 350 people took part in the events.
