World Wetlands Day 2015, 2nd February 2015
This year’s theme for World Wetlands Day is ‘Wetlands for our future’ and you can find resources for teachers, local events, logos and factsheets and much more at their website. There is also a photographic competition for those aged between 15 and 24, and you can make a pledge at the website too. If you are carrying out events at your wetland centre, we would love to hear from you and put your stories on the WLI web pages.
WLI South America and Caribbean meeting, Chile
A recent meeting in Chile brought colleagues together from across South America and the Caribbean, with 40 participants taking part. The event was hosted at CEH (Wetland Training Centre) in Pica – a wetland conference in the middle of a desert! A good opportunity to visit some oasis wetlands!
Plans were produced to strengthen the wetland network in the region, and we will update you with progress shortly. CEH will be taking a lead on the initiative, and we hope to hold a partners meeting at the Ramsar COP12, to be held in Uruguay, June 2015.
Wetland Centres exchange, Russia and the USA
If you work in Russia or the USA, then you could be eligible for an exchange visit with a partner centre in the opposite country! This is an opportunity to visit colleagues, find out how their wetland centres runs, and share advice on best practice. All travel and accommodation is paid for, and there will be a final conference in the USA in October 2015. For more information, click here in English, or here in Russian.
