In the wetland center of Nordre Øyeren, we celebrated the World Wetland Day with various activities primarily focusing on the children and youth. The activities included birdhouse making, bird and nature quizzes, feeding the aquarium fish and engaging with the audience, making ice art, coloring and painting, displaying two exhibits around our center and more.

The exhibits highlighted the importance of wetlands through various topics, both on a global and a local scale. They informed about the consequences following wetland deterioration, advantages of restoration and protection. How preserving the wetlands enhances the biodiversity and the water resources around the world. The goal of the exhibits was to show the audience how the different topics were connected and make them aware of how they can contribute to preserve and protect our wetlands.  And despite the rainfall and brisk winds, people gathered at our center and enjoyed an afternoon with families and friends participating in our various activities.
