DANAPURE’s Wetland – Liceo Taller San Miguel Colombia

Apart from being a tribute to our DANAPURE, it is a recognition for all the wetlands around the world.  During several days, the students have taken part in different activities, such as reforestation with guadua’s species, which are both good for wetlands and and native to our marshy Colombian region.

This year, the environmental police force was in charge of the related activities, which included awareness raising talks concerning the wild wetland’s fauna specifically, related material delivery and presentation of a show of their trained dogs.

We also went on an expedition to the different ecosystems of the Botanic Garden of the Technological University, including a visit

of its wetland, affected by the phenomenon “El Niño”. This allowed us to talk about the environmental issues affecting the planet.

During some days, Adeline Mertenat, young Swiss environmental engineer, took part of the celebration, bringing her experience with the Montecito’s Foundation (Sogamoso, Colombia), where she is carrying out different activities related to solid waste management in Lake Tota’s watershed.
