WLI best-of celebration of WWD
WLI intern Adil Boulahia has looked at previous celebrations of World Wetlands Day by WLI members and has selected five that caught his eye.

1-Baikka Beel 2019, Bangladesh
During this event, the City Council president committed to provide a solar system for the wetland visitor centre. A promise that was heartfelt to the participants.

2-Rahim Yar Khan 2018, Pakistan
More than 200 people from different backgrounds participated in the World Wetlands Day at RAHIM Yar Khan in Pakistan. Students, teachers, agronomists and media representatives all attended this urban wetlands activity.

3-The Kalissaye Ornithological Reserve in Casamance, Senegal 2017
A large number of lost nets and plastics were collected near the nesting islands of terns at the mouth of the Saloulou bolong.

4-Hong Kong Wetland Park, 2017
150 high school students participated in the inter-school bird race to promote bird watching activities in schools and raise awareness of bird conservation and the environment.

5-WWD conference, Democratic Republic of the Congo
About 350 people, including students, researchers and NGOs, were present to discuss the topic: "How to maintain the resilience of the wetland ecosystem for human well-being while maintaining biodiversity and many other services in the DRC?
