New guide to activities about bird migration

On World Migratory Bird Day 2021, a new guidebook lists activities themed on migratory birds, and is free to download on the WLI website.

In 2019, Migratory Birds for People, the network of wetland educators on the East Atlantic Flyway, marked its tenth anniversary with a special educational project. Together, we produced a huge fabric map showing the wetlands in the network, and five bird species that visit them.

Following an interruption to the network in 2020, we have returned to work and collaborated on a new handbook to accompany the map.

The guide describes activities using the map and provides templates to cut out and use for games, colouring-in, and lessons.

The map and guide may provide inspiration to WLI members outside the East Atlantic Flyway. Osprey, black-tailed godwit, common tern, Eurasian spoonbill, and red knot feature in both.

Download the guidebook free of charge, and learn more about the map.

Thank you to all the MBP wetland educators and ornithologists who contributed to the project!
