At the 8th WLI Asia Conference this week, the network formally joined with WLI members in the Pacific region to create WLI Asia-Oceania.
Led by the team at the Ramsar Regional Centre - East Asia (RRC-EA), WLI Asia is one of the most active regional networks within WLI. Joining forces with them not only reinvigorates the WLI Australia activities but also engages more widely in the Pacific.
Two Oceania representatives, Christene Prietto and Karen Denyer, are at the WLI Asia Conference in the Philippines this week. As celebrated CEPA practitioners in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand respectively, they have started building connections between the wetland visitor centres in more than a dozen countries.
The Director of WLI, Mr. Chris Rostron, and Executive Director of the RRC-EA, Mr. Suh Seung Oh, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the change at the 8th WLI Asia Conference this week.
