New Educational Resource: Bird Profiles for Guided Tours

The Wadden Sea, spanning the North Sea coasts of Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands, serves as a vital resting place for over ten million migratory birds along the East Atlantic flyway.

To enhance guided tours and educational efforts, the International Wadden Sea School (IWSS) has released a new collection of migratory bird profiles. This resource is designed to help bird guides and educators bring the fascinating story of migratory birds to life.

The profiles feature:

  • Detailed Illustrations & Migration Maps:Visual guides to key bird species.
  • Quick Facts:Information on identification, habitats, migration patterns, and diet.
  • Updated Data:The latest population figures for the flyway and the Wadden Sea regions.

Generously contributed by the Wadden Sea National Park Authority of Lower Saxony, the content has been adapted to create a World Heritage edition for use across the Wadden Sea.

The profiles are available for free download in English and German at iwss.org/resources; a Dutch and Danish edition is in preparation.
