The Lake Grand-Lieu Centre: Welcoming a new audience
For 10 years, we have been welcoming schools and the general public. In view of the urgent need to tackle climate change and the biodiversity crisis, since 2024 our mission has been to raise awareness among a new audience: public decision-makers (elected representatives) and private decision-makers (companies). Following a survey of the area and a test phase in 2023, our aim was to welcome almost 900 people in 2024. More than 1,440 people, most of them working for companies, came to seminars at the Lake Grand-Lieu Centre and took part in one or more activities designed to raise awareness of environmental issues.
We have developed activities tailored to this new audience: workshops, meetings and conferences for elected representatives and team-building activities and serious games for companies. The escape game at the lakeside Pavilion, on water pollution, and the orienteering on land use and the impact of human activities on biodiversity were a great success.
For World Wetlands Day 2025, we organised, with the University of Nantes, a meeting with researchers for elected representatives entitled ‘Water and wetlands: how to adapt your region to the major environmental issues’.
