World Saltmarsh Day
World Saltmarsh Day is a new initiative to celebrate an important wetland habitat type. Launching this year primarily in the UK, the organisers at WWT hope it will spread everywhere with saltmarshes.
These spectacular coastal habitats are tackling some of the world’s most pressing crises.
They’re biodiversity-bursting, carbon-capturing, flood-busting, water-purifying, economy-boosting and mood-lifting ecosystems.
Saltmarshes have been lost at a staggering rate in the last century, but with proper management and restoration efforts, we can help them burst back to life.
