Santay Island is a Ramsar Site, which means it is a wetland of international importance for biodiversity conservation. The Santay Observatory offers a unique platform for disseminating the culture and history of the population and for researching and monitoring biodiversity in the area.

On behalf of the Santay Observatory, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Wetland Link International for awarding us the Wetland Stars ⭐⭐. This recognition, presented during the Ramsar COP15 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, is an honour we receive with both humility and joy.
It is more than an award: it reflects the commitment of our community, partners, and visitors who, every day, work and learn to protect and share the value of this unique wetland. Every tour, every talk, and every act of care matters—and today we celebrate together that the world recognises it too.
