Overall aims of the centre

Implementation of environmental education programs for school and other groups

Description of the centre

Target area is Akrotiri Peninsula, with an area of about 60 square kms. It is a Ramsar site, a Special Protection Area (SPA), and an Important Bird Area (IBA).

It is a biodiversity hot-spot with more than 800 plant species and about 300 bird species recorded so far. The Centre offers educational programs for school groups, and offers information to visitors.

The facilities include an exhibition room, a projection room, a library and a bird observation area. It is situated within Akrotiri village, and it has about 10000 visitors per year, most of them in organised school groups
