Overall aims of the centre
The center protects Banda Aceh’s shorebird feeding sites through environmental education, ecotourism, and research facilities. By preserving mangroves, it aims to conserve biodiversity, support local communities, and boost climate resilience.
Description of the centre
The 250-hectare Alue Naga Cadek mangrove, vital for shorebirds such as the Lesser Sand Plover and Bar-tailed Godwit, is protected through rigorous observations, research, and community outreach, attracting 1,000 annual visitors.

Our awareness efforts involve engaging village leaders, educating visitors and locals, publishing media articles, and collaborating with Syiah Kuala University students to deepen understanding and commitment to conserving Alue Naga.
Top three successes
Conservation education and awareness can be driven by anyone, regardless of resources. Simple acts like bird watching or engaging visitors foster environmental responsibility, creating a community-centered approach to long-term conservation.
