MBP meetings
A core group of MBP members meets online every month, as does a core group of MBP Africa members.
Every year we bring MBP members together to share their own best practice, to plan for the year ahead, and to review our progress. In 2022 we started sharing capacity-building meetings, which produce resources for the network.
Capacity building outline to 2030
Building capacity of our members is core to MBP. As a network of wetland visitor centres and educators, the capacity built should facilitate those activities. The outline of these activities to 2030 includes meetings, training of trainers, and online training.
2024
The Annual Meeting 2024 took place online, spread over two mornings, on 21 and 24 October 2024. Nine members joined over the two days. We created a work plan for the next year, and of key activities until 2030. We shall to dedicate resources to maintaining and strengthening the network.
2023
2023's meeting was hosted by EVOA, in Portugal, with Zoom participation also available. The group discussed communicating science, with lots of bird ringing, and an in-depth exchange on designing hides. We also looked at continuing capacity-building in Atlantic Africa, and empowering women in the network.
2022
Our first ever annual meeting in Africa was an opportunity for a regional capacity-building workshop. The detailed report, voluntarily compiled by consultant Tim Dodman, is a rich resource for anyone working in the flyway. It includes summaries of regional needs and expectations, approaches, and case studies. There are plenty of photos! See also the 2022/23 workplan.
2021
Our 2021 annual meeting was online, in the afternoons of October 11 and 12. We had our usual review of the past year and planning for the next, as well as presentations from MBP members and inspirational external groups.
This meeting had full simultaneous interpretation between French and English.

2020
In 2020 we held our first virtual Annual Meeting. On 12 November we met, as usual, to review the past year, and plan for the next one, but we even managed some online birding!
