WWT learning

WWT’s learn site gives you a range of teaching resources aimed at primary school children, including stories, sounds and games.

Climate game

WWF Hong Kong have produced a climate change game called STEP aimed at primary school children

DUC teaching

For teaching plans and other resources, Ducks Unlimited Canada have a great resources page, including lesson plans, facts on wetlands, video footage and information for farmers and landowners

Crane games

The International Crane Foundation have a good site for resources for educators, as well as for students.

Children and nature

The Children and Nature Network in the US was created to restore the link between the natural environment and children’s well being.

Earth Day

Earth Day is 22nd April. The official website has educational materials and ideas, and there is a lesson plan based on water from the same website.

Discovering wetlands

The Australian Government has also produced a website on discovering wetlands, with school resources, games and even origami creatures.


Cornell Bird Lab has also produced resources around bird-watching and science as part of their Bird Sleuth programme.

Eco footprints

Eco Footprinting is being used by the Welsh Assembly Government as a baseline indicator for sustainability. Their aim is for Wales to become a one planet nation within the lifetime of a generation. You can find out more about this here.

Project Godwit

A full pack of classroom materials for Key Stages 1 and 2; covering multiple curriculum subjects, with classroom activities, worksheets, wall displays, videos, and teacher guides.

Collaborative animation

Preparing colouring-sheets for schools up and down the flyway, the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society combined them into an animated movie about the spoon-billed sandpiper; over a hundred children in three countries share ownership in the final movie.

Mazes & colouring-in

Ducks Unlimited's Green Wing for kids has a selection of printable sheets: wetland animals in simple mazes, and colouring-in sheets.

Mudskipper skips!

Learn all about muskippers thanks to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve in Singapore. With facts, colouring-in, and a wordsearch.

WWT make & do

Colouring-in sheets, spotter sheets, paper folding and cutouts on wetland animals.

Flight of the Swans

The 2016 expedition produced classroom and wetland centre materials about Bewick's swans and wetlands in general.

Point Blue Conservation Science are part of Grow Together. They have produced this activity-based PDF guide for family with children aged 2 – 5.
