Wetland Centre Accreditation

This form allows you to apply for wetland centre accreditation through the Wetland Link International network (WLI). The aim is to give our accreditation panel of wetland centre experts a thorough idea of your centre’s structure, programmes and activities, so please include as much detail and background information as you can. This can include photos, web links, short films / video footage or recommendations from visitors and partners. In 2021 we are running this as a pilot project, and will only be completing the procedure with 10 centres worldwide, but there will be greater opportunity in the following years.

There are many reasons to apply for this award, including:

  • Recognising the good work of your wetland centre at international level.
  • Providing a higher profile for your wetland centre to the government and possibly partners and funders.
  • Giving the staff and volunteers of your wetland centre a sense of pride, encouragement and achievement in their work.
  • Showing your visitors that your wetland centre is one of the best in the world hence increased visitation and revenue

You do not need to show that you meet every criteria from the list. We recognise that small centres (even those with no built infrastructure) can still deliver excellent Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) activities. Please complete the following questionnaire, with evidence where you can, to apply for WLI Wetland Centre Accreditation.

For more information see wli.wwt.org.uk/initiatives/wetland-centre-accreditation or contact us at wli@wwt.org.uk. We also suggest that you inform your government or NGO Ramsar CEPA focal point (see www.ramsar.org) or equivalent national wetland contact.
