World Wetlands Day : Protect the wetlands, we are always taking action.

The February 2nd of 2017 is the 21st World Wetlands Day, and we provided some excellent interactive experiences for kids and their parents in this day.

We know that the most natural disasters originated from the water, such as flood and tsunami. As we are unaware of the wetlands bring us what exactly, such as a piece of earth and anything else. Technically, the functions of wetlands are far beyond our imagination.

What is the wetland?

In the beginning of the WWD activity, our eco-guides presented the sounds of different kinds about water in our daily life by multimedia to the kids, giving them some orientations for the wetlands, and making them distinguished the sounds of which. Then we told the children that the wetland could store the water, which was the indispensable site for storing fresh ground water resources particularly.

Can the wetland really store the water resources?

How does the wetland store the water resources? With this question, the eco-guides began to do an experiment for the kids. We used some items as needed, and put a piece of sponge into a plastic bottle that was filled with water, and then, we saw the sponge had absorbed the water inside it, after that the kids know that we can store the water resources for our daily usage like this from the study.

Wetland can purify the water yet?

Some children said if the sponge absorbed the dirty water, what can we do? Our eco-guides then started another experiment on this question. After We put the sponge into the other bottle was filled with the dirty water and mixed the soil, one of the eco-guides, who got out the sponge quickly and then dried it off, and wefound that the dirty things had been absorbed to spread out the surface of sponge, what the remaining things into the bottle was the purified water.

If the floods arrive, how does the wetland work?

The kids felt so happy and self-confident while they were readying to build the house by themselves. But the question is how did they build a big gorgeous castle by using the simple plastic frothy materials? Well, this would be a tough attempt for the kids, but they could eager to use their enormous imagination to think out all the solutions for this assignment, and of course, they did the job well done with the teamwork and the family cooperation. Let’s have a look.

The flood swept through us, and our houses had been destroyed

When the kids totally immersed in the acting of joy, the ‘flood’ came suddenly, sweeping down the castle by their hard work, and we can sure about the children were scared with it.

Will there be any difference to the castle if there is a wetland in front of it?

The children took hearts from the eco-guides’ encouragement and went on to build their castles again. After they finished the job, the eco-guides laid 2 duster clothes before each castle for simulating 2 pieces of real wetlands.

The wetland could be able to control the floods

Can we defeat the ‘flood’ like that? Into the question, the new assault of the ‘flood’ was coming. After the ‘flood’ stroked the castles again, the ‘wetlands’, which was in front of the forth models, even had absorbed and stored the water for the castles so that the ‘flood’ would not enough impact force strength to destroy the buildings, keeping the castles steady and safety eventually. The kids were fully comprehended by the relationship about the wetlands and disasters risk reduction from these interactive experiments as much as they completely.

As we all know, kids and children like playing, and what the pursuing of us is aim to let them learn about the wetland knowledge within the enjoyment step by step, and then guide them to take upon themselves  the responsibility for protecting and respecting the wetlands finally.
