WLI Chilean work force

By coincidence we have three Chilean colleagues working in the WLI Slimbridge office right now.  Josefa Gonzalez and Vivian Peran are here as part of an agreement with the Fundación Kennedy, a wetland NGO based near Santiago, and Patricio ‘Pato’ Guerrero is here at the WLI intern for 2017-18, supporting us in the development of the WLI Americas network.  Meet the team here.

Migratory Birds for People West Africa

With help from our colleagues in Birdlife, we have recently published the first MBP West Africa bulletin, with news from wetland centres across the West Africa region.  The bulletin introduces colleagues working at different wetland centres, and we are already planning the next one that will give more details of the activities and structure of the centres.

MBP films

Although our colleague Katja Fedrowitz is on maternity leave, she has still found time to update the MBP film in different language versions.  You can find them in Arabic, Spanish, French, Basque, Dutch, Finnish and of course English.  Massive thanks to Katja and everyone who helped us with the translations. See English version here or visit page to see all films.

World Wetlands Survey

If you haven’t had a chance to complete the global wetland survey on wetlands being run by WWT, WWN and SWS, then you still have time!  The survey aims to build our global knowledge of what pressures are threatening wetlands, how they are changing and who is working to support them.  You can find the survey here, please do complete it before the 30th of September.

Asia Wetland Symposium with WLI Asia Meet, 2017
After a second planning meeting in Saga City, Japan, the head of WLI and Mr Suh Seung Oh, Ramsar Regional Centre East Asia, continue to plan activities for WLI Asia.  The dedicated WLI day will take place on the 6th of November, with an additional side event, poster display and field trip / workshop included.  We hope that WLI members from across Asia will attend, and we have some limited funding to support flights to the conference.  Contact Mr Suh Seung-oh or the Head of WLI for more information.
