In celebration of the 18th year anniversary as a Ramsar Site and 21st year anniversary as a Protected Area, the Protected Area Office in collaboration with the 6 Municipal Local Government Units of AMWS, Philsaga Mining Corporation and the Department of Education-Agusan del Sur had initiated a Youth Summit last November 14, 2017.

The activity was participated by students from Loreto National High School, Datu Lipus Macapandong National High School in Rosario, Bunawan National High School, Talacogon National High School, Agusan del Sur National High School in San Francisco, and La Paz National High School in La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

The youth summit aims to raise awareness among the youth on the importance of AMWS, the issues and challenges faced by AMWS as a Protected Area, the conservation initiatives undertaken by the PASu Office and different stakeholders to sustain its ecological services, and the initiatives that were undertaken involving the youth for the conservation of AMWS.

Activities such as environmental quiz bee to test the knowledge of the students with regards to AMWS, dance craze, singing contest, and poster making contest were carried out during this event. Moreover, exhibits about AMWS, Birds of AMWS, and the Values and Function of Peatlands were displayed.

IEC (Information, Education, Communication) materials about AMWS, peatlands, wetlands, posters, book on the SEApeat National Report, and pictorial handbook of the flora of Caimpugan were also distributed to the participating schools, students, and partner agencies.
