This Migratory Birds for People (MBP) News Flash is just a quick reminder for this year’s World Wetlands Day.
World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on 2 February. It marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the city of Ramsar, on the Iranian shores of the Caspian Sea.
Since 1997, the Ramsar Secretariat has provided outreach materials for the day, to help you raise public awareness about the importance and value of wetlands. You can download materials on theme for 2019, wetlands and climate change, from the official website.
To increase the visibility of your efforts, consider adding your plan to Ramsar’s global event map. Looking at the range of events shown there, you will notice that there is flexibility as to the exact date you hold your activity. Please also share your events with us! We may post them online in the MBP or WLI websites or social media. If you would like WLI to tweet about your event in advance, please Tweet it to @WetlandLink, or tag MBP in it on Facebook.
