International Symposium on Conservation and Management of Wetlands

On 15 March 2021, Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society (SWCS) will host the 4th International Symposium on Conservation and Management of Wetlands (ISCMW 2020).

SWCS is a non-profit organisation based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and mandated by the Sabah Wildlife Department to manage the Kota Kinabalu Wetland Ramsar Site (KKWRS), the only urban Ramsar Site in Malaysia. Throughout the years, they have organised activities including environmental education, mangrove tree planting, community projects and many more. The International Symposium on Conservation and Management of Wetlands (ISCMW) is their biennial event that has run since 2014.

The symposium will be hosted online on the 15th of March 2021, starting from 9:00 am – 16:00 Malaysia Local Time (01:00 – 08:00 UTC). There will be three Panel Sessions and leading experts, academicians, and practitioners to speak on their experiences and expectations on wetlands beyond the super year 2020. They will begin with a serious reflection of what works and what not to move forward and taking a bottom-up approach from sub-national boundaries to national, regional, and global jurisdictions.

The mode of the symposium will be online via Zoom, which the registration will open only to the first 500 participants. However, if the registration is full, they can watch the live broadcast through Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society Facebook page.
