Overall aims of the centre

To create and enabling policy environment, capacity and awareness buidling at systyemic level and establish collborative management model

Description of the centre

17500 +2563 ha, habitat restoration that has helped to host 1 percent of south asian population of cotton-pygmy goose, water buffalo and livelihood improvement of its dependents, one is located at far western and another is in eastern terai of Nepal.

Main CEPA work areas

We are dedicated awareness program on the ocassion of WWD on every 2nd Feburay where people from policy to grass root level are participating, we have conducted habitat restoration activities in a campaign, wetland clubs are form at school, teacher’s networks are also formed and imparted the knowledge.

We have also prepared CEPA strategy, its dissemination framework including wetland resource book, TOT manual, posters/flex and FAQs on Ramsar site. At the same time, we organise sentization session for policy makers, organize exposure visit to local actors to planners, media people, teacher’s network, wetland clubs so that people at all level will be sensitised towards wetlands, audio-visual, stree drama and weekly radio programs also broadcasting from centre to field.

Top three successes

Participation campaign, exposure visit and media coverage in local dialect have been found to be very useful to make aware the people at all level.

Top three challenges

Language barriers are some hinderance to impart the knowledge at grass root level. Our sites are located in two different terai where people are diverse and speak different languages.
