Overall aims of the centre

Objective: the OCT wetland will be built into a model for the protection and restoration of coastal wetlands in the center of the city through comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, fine management and ecological education.

Vision: to become an international advanced demonstration base for public participation in ecological protection and nature education.

Location: Nanshan District, Shenzhen, Guangdong
Province, China.

Size of site: 68.5ha

coastal wetland, Mangrove Wetlands, Mudflat, Wetlands.

Work Areas

ßased on ecological restoration and ecological protection, OCT Wetland, adhering to the principle of "one classroom, one set of teaching materials, one volunteer teacher of environmental protection", set up a natural school, with natural experience as the core, and work edging with environmental volunteer teachers to develop diversified courses for different ages and seasons. A series of 29 series of educational courses, in cluding eco-guided tours, nature FUN classes and bird classes, have been developed. Through natural education activities and public welfare activities, the OCT Wetland sets up an open public welfare platform for all sectors of society to practice ecological and environmental protection actions, and create a management model of "government-Ied, enterprise management and public participation", practice corporate social responsibility and promote the construction of ecological civilization. Field-based offline experience activities, feature course setup and reconciliation system construction, combined with ecological exhibition hall display function for navigation and reconciliation.

Top three successes

In August 2011 , the State Oceanic Administration awarded the "National Coastal Wetland Restoration Demonstration Projct" to the Overseas Chinese City Wetlands, affirming the innovation and achievements of the Overseas Chinese City Wetland in the areas of coastal wetland restoration and management system, and the overseas Chinese city wetland scored the first project in China to receive this award.

In December 2015, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Environmental Protection awarded the Overseas Chinese City Wetland "National Social Practice Base for Environmental Education in Primary and Secondary Schools" to affirm the innovation of the Overseas Chinese City Wetland Sanatorbet In nature education. Since the establishment and operation of the Wetland Natural School of Overseas Chinese City, adhering to the "three ones" model of operation, in which dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, progress of the environmental protection volunteer teachers, has been encouraged and learned by all parties in society.
