AS A VISITOR CENTRE :
WWT Washington is a riverside oasis in the urban sprawl where you can get up close to the wild world and become part of an inspiring north eastern community.
Description of the centre
The site is 105 acres, mixed woodland, reed- bed, saline lagoon, still ponds, small flowing gill, wet grassland, wildflower meadows, amenity grassland, semi-natural and ancient woodland ( broadleaved ) hawthorn scrub and hedgerows. It is also a wet woodland with lakes and a reservoir.
