World Wetlands Day 2022: a programme of activities around the Grand-Lieu Lake
For World Wetlands Day, more than 20 partners working around the Grand-Lieu Lake have gathered to prepare a lot of activities on the ‘Wetlands Action for People and Nature’ theme. The objective is to raise awareness among as many people as possible about Grand-Lieu Lake and wetlands’ importance. This collaboration offers the general public more than 30 activities throughout February.
Grand-Lieu lake is the focal point of a collaborative project
Mysterious and often misunderstood places, wetlands are nevertheless extremely rich sources of life that provide many services.
The objectives are raising awareness among all audiences of the importance of wetlands’ conservation and promoting the discovery of Lake Grand-Lieu, an exceptional site recognised as being of international importance. In this regards, 22 communities, associations and organisations have drawn up a common activities’ programme.
This collective project is coordinated by the Grand-Lieu Lake Centre (‘La Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu’), a wetland centre which is a WLI partner.
A rich and varied programme of activities for all ages
Activities are accessible and fun, they are aimed at all audiences! There are children's activities, conferences, nature outings, exhibitions… So that everyone can find the activity that suits them!
For example, people have the opportunity to take advantage of an exceptional outing by boat on the Grand-Lieu Lake; to take part in a ride with donkeys in swamps; explore the world of freshwater fish; or, for the youngest, to discover the diversity of life through a playful and interactive exhibition.
